November, cancel them now! Mackay’s biggest ever free community party is set to light up the town, with mega-act Thirsty Merc performing live and fistfuls of fun to be had. To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Mackay cricket, the big shindig also includes a charity 20/20 match featuring local and state sports stars. It’s also your opportunity to be part of the future – the Party in the Park will be the very first event to be staged at the newly christened Great Barrier Reef Arena .  And come hungry as there will be over 30 of the region’s best food vendors on hand to satisfy your every tastebuds throughout the afternoon and evening. CHARITY 20/20 WITH A TWIST  Local heroes and sports stars from across the state will battle it out for glory in the inaugural Great Barrier Reef Arena Blast. AFL stars from the Gold Coast Suns, Jemma Barsby and Grace Harris from the Brisbane Heat, former NRL and State of Origin star Dane Nielsen and Queensland Country Cricket captain Mitch English are just some of the big names to take to the pitch. This is 20/20 with a twist – each team will have fifteen wickets and the team that reaches 150 runs in the least number of balls wins! The match will support the Pink Ribbon Foundation and Movember Foundation through donations from local sponsors and the crowd at the ground.
